Moving to Richmond and not used to the humidity? Visit a splash pad!
Finding the perfect spot to cool down becomes a top priority for EVERYONE. What better way to beat the heat than by visiting one of the city’s many splash pads? A lot of the splash pads are meant for children…but honestly…as an adult I’ll jump in there when its extremely hot out! Whether you live here or are moving to Richmond, hot is hot….so run don’t walk, to these! If you’re moving to Richmond Virginia, visiting these outdoor spots are a must!
Here are my top 5 in no particular order:
Children’s Museum of Richmond (The Fan)
This is a “pay to get in” splash pad, but you’ll be glad you did because it has a large outdoor, FULLY FENCED play area that opens up into a splash pad to keep kids contained and happy! Included in the price is the full museum so make a day of it!
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden (Lakeside)
This splash pad also costs some $$, but it is brand new and very clean! Fully fenced, your kiddos can run around and also access the small play area. Outside of the fencing is the Botanical Gardens which all ages will enjoy.
Short Pump Park (Short Pump)
A small but FREE splash pad! Just an fyi, no fencing here so you’ll definitely want to keep an eye on the kids. Nextdoor is a dog park, playground, and walking trail!
Stony Point Fashion Park (Stony Point)
Also free! You can spend your day at the splash pad and walk around the outdoor mall, grab a coffee, and maybe even schedule your child’s next play date at Sunshine Play right next to the splash pad! If you are moving to Richmond Virginia, this splash pad and play date combo is a great way to meet people!
Twin Hickory Park & Recreation Center (Glen Allen)
Free to anyone, this park features walking trails, open play areas, and playgrounds in addition to the splash pad! Not fully fenced, but its tucked far enough back that even your little “runners” probably won’t escape easily.
If you are moving to Richmond, Virginia, we can’t wait to have you here! Check out our real estate site for house hunting help HERE and then go visit a splash pad! 🙂
