I scream, you scream, we all scream for….RICHMONDS BEST ICE CREAM! In the 7 years I’ve lived in Richmond, I’ve tried a lot of ice cream shops. Here are MY TOP 3!

#1 JENI’S

First I would like to mention that if you are dairy or gluten free, Jeni’s has options for you! Yes, more then one option!

Jeni’s ice cream has the perfect texture- not too hard, not too creamy. They also have very creative flavors ranging from Bastani Sonnati (balance of saffron, rose water, and pistachio) to Burnt Orange Dreamsicle (orange ice cream with vanilla custard and burnt orange caramel.) Like most places, you can get scoops, cones, or take home pints of any of the flavors. Check out their newest Carytown location!

My favorite flavors: Double Dough and Gooey Butter Cake

Pro tip: Not much seating inside so be prepared to walk and eat!

#2 SCOOP

Scoop is located off of Strawberry Street downtown and fun fact: they make their ice cream in small batches on site! They offer take out, curbside pickup, and local delivery so there is no excuse to not try this local shop.

What’a fun about them is that they offer a Pint Club! Your Pint Club Membership includes 3 pints per month: One signature, one seasonal, and one flavor created just for our members!

At Scoop you can get regular ice cream scoops, ice cream sandwiches, shakes, macaroons, ice cream flights, and ice cream cakes so the possibilities are endless!

My personal favorite is getting the ice cream flight so I can get a taste of all the seasonal flavors at once!

#3 GELATI CELESTI

Gelati Celesti has 7 LOCAL SHOP LOCATIONS! You can go to any of the following areas to taste their ice cream: Bon Air, Grove Ave, Mechanicsville, Scotts Addition, Short Pump, Swift Creek, and West End.

They offer ice cream in the form of scoops, shakes, cakes, pies and cookie sandwiches. Definitely try a cookie sandwich!

They offer house favorite flavors and rotating seasonal ones from banana to our local to Richmond Ukrops rainbow cookie ice cream!

Pro tip: They cater events and also have a food truck. Try using them for your next event!
